Brighter Futures
Our Childcare Initiative
We believe that the key to thriving small towns is the quality of life they can offer families. And no single factor is more important to families than the quality of education that they can expect for their children. That’s why in Crawford county we take the attitude that ‘good enough’ isn’t good enough when it comes to our schools. We have four high schools in the county and every single one of them has been rated as a Commendable School by the Illinois State Board of Education. Nuttall Middle School in Robinson has been designated an Exemplary School placing it in the top 10% statewide.
And our commitment to your children’s futures doesn’t end when they throw their caps at their high school graduation. We believe that in the face of soaring college expense for families and a labor market future for everyone that’s harder to predict than ever, that’s there’s never been a more important time to invest in quality, affordable education. That’s why we’re so proud of Lincoln Trail College consistently recognized as one of America’s best community colleges.
In small communities like ours, we understand roots. There’s no more important decision than where you choose to grow your family, your company and your future. Whether you’re an individual weighing where you want to raise your kids, or an employer looking for a home where you’ll be able to attract and retain great employees, we want you to know that every young person in Crawford county is important to us. That’s why local donors have endowed foundations in the county with millions of dollars that we use to provide exceptional opportunities to students every year and to do it without burdening them with a lifetime of student loan debt.
Crawford County is currently facing a significant childcare need, and our community mobilized together to put initiatives in place. One such initiative is a childcare program aimed at providing affordable and accessible childcare to local families.
This program is being spearheaded by the CCDA and has received funding and support from various community stakeholders. The aim is to ensure that working families have access to quality childcare services, which in turn will help boost the local economy by enabling parents to participate in the workforce.
The program will offer a range of services, including after-school care and daycare. The organization has already secured a suitable location and are in the process of hiring qualified staff to ensure that the highest standards of care are provided.
In addition to providing much-needed childcare services, the initiative is also creating employment opportunities for local residents. It is a win-win situation for the community as it addresses an urgent need while also driving economic growth and development.
Parents and community members have welcomed the initiative, with many expressing gratitude for the efforts being made to address the childcare need in the county. The program is set to launch in the coming months and is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of families and children in Crawford County.
Stronger Towns
It sounds simple, but we believe in towns. Towns aren’t just government units, they’re communities, they’re neighborhoods, they’re families. And when you come to Crawford county, you’re not just moving to a place, you’re joining a community. Our towns are led by dedicated public servants, and they believe in the power of entrepreneurship and the impact of small business. If you have a vision for your business, let us know. We’ll do everything we can to help make your dream happen.
Crawford County is currently taking steps to accommodate an ever-growing community as identified in a 2023 housing study. These initiatives aim to grow neighborhoods and create more livable spaces for those who commute in for work.
CCDA is working with developers to secure funding for the construction of new homes and the renovation of existing properties. In addition, we are partnering with local educational institutions to educate and train a labor force that is equipped with the necessary skills to manage and maintain the properties that are built.
